Wins for Willow, Superfine, Soindika and Buggalugs in Income Asset Management Wednesday Twilight Series

Willow, Superfine, Soindika and Buggalugs were the divisional winners in Race 15 of the 2022/23 Income Asset Management Wednesday Twilight Series.

A fleet of 35 boats raced in 13-14kts of breeze (SSE) on an overcast evening on Sydney Harbour.

Jim Cooney’s Volvo 70 Willow was first across the line and claimed Division A honours, ahead of David Gotze’s Lyons Cawse 60 Triton and Geoff Lavis’ Inglis/Dovell 50 UBS Wild Thing.

George Waldthausen’s Cavalier 350SL Superfine won Division B. Steve Watson’s J/130 Ragtime went close to a third consecutive win, taking second spot, while It Happens (Craig Young) was third.

Timothy Atkins steered Soindika to top spot in Division C. Places 2 to 5 were separated by just 14 seconds on corrected time, as Boomerang (Lee Hawksley) and Baltic Lady (Niel Burling) made the podium, while Commodore Arthur Lane’s Wilde Rush was just one second off third spot.

The Jeremy Nelson-skippered Jeanneau 36.2 Buggalugs won Division D, which also featured some tight racing. There were 20 seconds between second-placed Gun Runner (Murray Stewart), third-placed B&B (Alan Conway) and fourth-placed Lumiere (Peter O’Brien).

There are four races remaining in the 2022/23 Income Asset Management Wednesday Twilight Series.

Race 16 will take place on 1 March and entries are open until 1200hrs on the day of the race.
