Bathtub Boats competition winner

CYCA’s Bathtub Boats competition has brought out the crème de la crème of our Members’ passion, creativity and ingenuity. Of course, if you give any sailor a competition against their peers and then couple it with isolation for long periods of time, you’re sure to see some outstanding results!

After a month of building and another week of voting, the Bathtub Boats competition has come to an end with only one thing left to do – announce our winner!

Three Bathtub Boats have emerged as finalists in the competition which began during the height of lockdown: Isolationist by Dick Cawse, Samiel by Mike Cassidy and Corona by James Sellors.

So… the moment we’ve all been waiting for! The winner of the Bathtub Boats competition, as voted by Members, is the aptly named Corona, created and built by James Sellors! Second place is Samiel, followed very closely (just three votes behind!) by Isolationist.

James will be taking home a 75th Sydney Hobart Yacht Race merchandise pack valued at $450, Mike’s the lucky winner of a CYCA 75th anniversary merchandise pack worth $290 and Dick receives a $100 gift voucher for shop.cyca.com.au.

A huge thank you goes to all of our participating teams, your Community spirit during what has been a difficult time has been heart-warming. Congratulations to our finalists and of course to James Sellors – we hope you enjoy your creations!
