The competition is simple – design and build a yacht!

It can be any yacht from any era… the choice is entirely yours! The competition is designed to be completed entirely from home.

The rules are as follows:

  • Lead boat builders must be CYCA Members
  • Boats must be homemade and from scratch, and assistance from family and friends is permitted (maintaining relevant social distancing at all times)
  • Boat materials are completely open to participants – there are no formal requirements regarding construction
  • Boats must measure LOA no smaller than 30cm and no larger than 1m
  • Boats must float, with photos submitted to show the ‘seaworthiness’ of a yacht in a full kitchen sink or bathtub

The competition commences on 12 May 2020, and concludes on 1700hrs Friday 12 June.

Each week – on Mondays 18 May, 25 May, 1 June and 8 June – CYCA will announce via Onshore compulsory inclusions for yachts, totalling four (4) compulsory inclusions. These will consist of household-type easy-to-access items and creative tasks. Competitors need to include all four (4) of these items in their final submission in order to be considered for prizes.

Competitors are required to email weekly progress photos of their boat to media@cyca.com.au – by COB Friday each week during the competition period.
