Join us Friday 13 September 1800hrs for a Quiet Little Drink to honour those who have recently competed their 25th Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, as well as the Youth Sailing Academy members who have competed their first.
While the Quiet Little Drink (QLD) has been celebrated for some 50 years having started at the Shipwrights Arms Hotel in Battery Point following the 1969 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race (and should be another great party following this year’s 75th race!), it has also been held in various forms at the home of the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.
The QLD has had a long-standing relationship with CYCA’s Youth Sailing Academy going back to the YSA’s beginnings and the financing of one of the first yachts in the fleet – inevitably called QLD. For years the QLD have also supported the YSA in various other ways including financing its sailors to undertaking ocean racing crew qualification courses and providing equipment.
Tickets are $30 per person (Members & non-Members) and include nibbles with all proceeds donated to the Youth Sailing Academy. Come along for a great night of friends, laughs and celebration of our great race and the people who make it so!
Congratulations to the following:
YSA first Sydney Hobart: Eric Sparkes and Cameron Gundy
25 Sydney Hobarts: Michael Formosa, Sam Hunt, Iain Murray, Jim Nixon, John Whitfield
50 Sydney Hobarts: Bill Ratcliff and Colin Wildman.
Note: Members’ Badge Draw has been moved from Thursday 12 September to Friday 13 September to coincide with the Quiet Little Drink.
