The second last race of the series brought with it a perfect winter days racing. With the sun shining early before crews made their way out to the start line, the westerly breeze overnight faded early with look of an easterly filling in.
The wind however come back re-invigorated out of the west as entrants started to make their way around the course.
One entrant which was able to make the most of the conditions was Richard Allen’s Tea for the tillerman in Division J2.
“We had good luck this week, Symbiosis were just in front of us but when they made a mistake close to the line, we got past them. We have been sailing pretty consistently throughout the season but have some people missing this coming weekend with surfing safaris and an injured back so not sure how we will go this coming weekend,” said Allen.
“My son Robert has been steering most of the races with many of his friends joining him as well. When the drop came in it really surprised us with the points, it has really levelled the playing field. We would be happy to come even second or third with such good competition. It’s been great fun, just a really good series.”
With only one race left in the series many crews are looking to the final race to either secure their spot on the podium or knock fellow entrants out and take a step up. With racing in winter proving to be very tactical and weather dependant, many will be watching the forecast closely to see what conditions eventuate.
