2023 Coal Loader Tour

The CYCA’s Cruising Committee organised a tour of the historic Coal Loader in Waverton on Saturday 21 January.

The event was a sell-out, with Members and guests enjoying a fascinating tour of the grounds.

Organiser John Keelty, a member of the Cruising Committee, reflects on a great day out.

The weather for our visit to and tour of the Ball’s Head Coal Loader was ideal for those who attended.

It commenced with our guide, Jill, giving us the information on the history of the area and how the need for the Coal Loader came about, followed by a tour of the Coal Loader itself, including the tunnels and machinery etc.

This was followed by a tour of the grounds and a view of the Aboriginal rock carvings, followed by a picnic in the area on top of the Coal Loader itself, which has a wonderful view of Sydney Harbour, all of which presented some wonderful photo opportunities.

All in all, it was a wonderful day for those who attended.
