Sunday 24 November the third race in the Sydney Harbour Women’s Keelboat Series was hosted by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron.
On what was a beautiful summer’s day with a steady 15-17kts NE breeze the fleet took off.
Split up in two divisions, four yachts competed in Division 1, the spinnaker class and eight competed in Division 2, a non-spinnaker class.
In Division 1 it was Wilde Rush, skippered by Dinah Eagle, who was able to make the most of the conditions. In Division 2 Lively took the top honours.
Dinah Eagle shared: “We had a great start in a stiff NE 15-20kt breeze which stayed in for the whole race. We worked our way up the Harbour fast, which probably contributed most to our final result – although our final reach across the Harbour had the boat and the crew humming!
“We have an all female crew who have developed in both capability and confidence to now race competitively on the boat. A special thanks goes out to each of the five clubs who have combined to develop and run the WKBR. Its a unique series with some great sailors now racing each other regularly.”
