The Hardy Cup for 2024 concluded yesterday, February 8th, after four days of thrilling racing. Recognized as one of Australia’s premier youth match racing events, The Hardy Cup serves as a platform for pushing youths’ match racing and technical sailing skills. Since its establishment in 2001, this competition always attracts attention from many youth teams, maintaining its esteemed Grade 3 international event status accredited by World Sailing.
Competitors compete in Elliott 7s keelboats, drawing entries not only from various regions of Australia but also from overseas, including New Zealand and Ireland. Representing the CYCA’s YSA in this year’s event were Chelsea Williams, Cole Tapper, Mark Murray, Maddy MacLeay, Craig Wright and Hamish Vass.
A big congratulations to fellow YSA Member Nick Drummond, who won the event with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron’s (RNZYS).
