The CYCA WhatsApp Community is a new way to stay connected and informed. It is a platform for CYCA Members, visitors, and competitors to receive real-time updates about Club activities, social events, series, races and and sailing Pointscores.

To join the CYCA WhatsApp Community:

1. If you don’t already have WhatsApp, download it for free from the App Store (for iPhone users) or Google Play (for Android users).
2. Once installed, scan the QR-Code above or on one of our Digiboards in the Club to access our WhatsApp Community.
3. Choose the Groups you’d like to join within the Community.

We’ve created two main Groups within the CYCA WhatsApp Community:

• CYCA Social Events: Receive updates about upcoming social events, Member functions, and special gatherings.
• CYCA Sailing Pointscores, Races and Series: Stay informed on all things sailing, including race schedules, Pointscores, series, and other sailing news. New Groups will be added throughout the year as new Pointscores and races take place, so make sure to keep an eye on newly made Groups

Yes, you can join multiple Groups within the Community, depending on your interests. Feel free to join both the social and sailing-related Groups.

Once you’ve joined the Community and joined your selection of Groups, you’ll receive messages and notifications directly in WhatsApp. Be sure to keep notifications turned on to stay informed, you are also able to mute notifications and catch up on the latest news at your own pace.

The Community is open to CYCA Members, visitors, and competitors. Whether you’re interested in sailing or simply enjoying the social side of the Club, there’s a Group for you.

Yes, your personal information will remain private. Only CYCA administrators will have the ability to post messages, and your phone number will not be visible to other Members of the Group. However, if you have the number of another Group member saved on your device you will be able to see their name in the Group.

Yes, you can leave any Group or the entire Community at any time by clicking the ‘Exit Group’ option in WhatsApp. You can re-join at any given point in time.

No, the WhatsApp Community is an additional way to stay informed. We will continue to use emails, the CYCA website, and social media to communicate important updates as well.

Important note: Any admin numbers seen in this Group should not be contacted in case of an on water incident. Please continue using the standard contact details provided by the Sailing Office for urgent matters.

To change who can see your last seen and online, profile photo, about information, status updates or add you to groups:

1. Click Settings > Privacy.
2. Click the privacy setting you’d like to change.
3. Click Everyone, My contacts, My contacts except…, or Nobody.
