2025 Pallas Capital Gold Cup – Act 1

Day 1 | Saturday 1 March

The Pallas Capital Gold Cup got underway on Saturday as part of the Nautilus Marine Insurance Sydney Harbour Regatta, the first of four acts for this edition. Two races were sailed starting in the sound and then heading offshore in a maximum 6 knot breeze which continually swung from the south-east to just north of east.

On both TPR and IRC, David Doherty’s team Matador, the defending champions from the last Pallas Capital Gold Cup, have a clean sweep of the results.

“Luck went our way a bit and at stages it went Hooligan’s,” Doherty said. “They (Hooligan) should have won first race, but shift didn’t go their way, it went ours, so we won it. Our crew are really doing a good job. James Corrie does a great job on the boat preparation and the crew make me look good.”

Doherty said offshore it was, “A pretty flat sea with winds up 7 to 8 knots.”

Andy Kearnan’s Koa sat in second on TPR, while it is Marcus Blackmore’s Hooligan which is second on IRC.
