A message from Commodore Cornish
It is my pleasure to welcome you to another year of Membership with the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. I’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your support of our Club throughout another challenging year. I very much look forward to forging ahead with you into 2022 and beyond.
It is pleasing that despite the challenges of the past year, your Club has achieved record Membership for the third consecutive year. You belong to a strong Club with a rich history and wonderful camaraderie. Your Board and Management Team remain committed to delivering you excellence both on and off the water.
The year ahead
Looking forward, we will be returning to our full Sailing Program and social calendar – the first time we’ve been able to do so since 2019 – and a sense of ‘normalcy’ returning to the Club.
I was so happy we were able to get the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race away, and what a spectacular race it was! I’m sure the 2022 race will be just as striking, especially as we welcome back international entries to compete alongside teams from across Australia.
Before the Rolex Sydney Hobart ignites the Harbour the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race will make its long-awaited return. I know many Members are looking forward to racing north to the Gold Coast and beyond, and I look forward to seeing you on the start line in July.
Of course, crowd-favourites such as the Winter Series and the host of wonderful racing we enjoy throughout the Spring and Summer Series will be back to normal as well, alongside much-loved social events such as the International Women’s Day Breakfast, CYCA Hall of Fame & Member Anniversary Dinner, SOLAS Dinner, and more.
Membership subscriptions
Each year your Board and Management Team carefully consider the Club’s operations, our future expenditure needs and of course the value proposition of your Membership when it comes to setting subscriptions for the next 12 months.
With over 3,300 Members at the time of writing, getting this balance right is important to us all and the Board has approved an average overall increase of circa 6% meaning subscriptions still remain well below any comparable Club in Sydney.
We are pleased to announce again this year that if you renew before close of business Friday 25 March 2022 you’ll receive an early-bird bonus credit. Your bonus credit will be available in your House account to spend on food, beverage or merchandise at the Club anytime before Thursday 30 June 2022.
You will receive your Membership renewal statement which includes all the ways you can pay your subscription. You may renew now via our online Members’ Portal, using your BPay details provided on the statement, by setting up an automatic direct debit, or over the phone (02) 8292 7800 or in-person with our friendly Reception Team.
