French, British and Australian teams have done battle on the final days of the 2023 Aircalin Match Cup in Noumea, with the Aussies coming out on top.

CYCA Youth Sailing Academy’s Will Sargent, Paige Caldecoat, Eddie Reid and Nathan Gulliksen came from 0-2 down in the Final yesterday to win 3-2 over local favourite Tom Picot.

This was another impressive result for Will, Paige & Eddie who with Eirini Marios, won the 2023 SB20 World Championship back in July.

Eight teams competed on the fleet of the host club Cercle Nautique Calédonien (CNC)’s J/70 keelboat. The wind had continually dropped over the regatta, with Sunday offering a light breeze of 10 knots in perfect sunshine.

Will and the team prevailed in a tense Final after having led after both Round Robins and winning their Semi-Final against Zac West’s UK team 3-1.
