Episode 36 of the CYCA’s Video Archive Project features Tony Ellis, who competed in a record 53rd Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in 2021.

Part 1 covers Tony’s early sailing days, his first Hobart on Salacia 1 in 1963, Dame Pattie and the Americas Cup in 1967, racing with Syd Fischer on Ragamuffin, and the Admirals Cup in 1969, 1971 and 1973.

Part 2 covers Ragamuffins designed by Miller (Lexcen) and Frers, measurement for rating in the UK, winning the Sydney Hobart on Ragamuffin in 1992, Tony’s thoughts on Syd Fischer, ocean racing today, and his reflections on sailing in 53 Sydney Hobarts.
