A packed weekend for Short Haul Pointscore racers saw two events over two days, firstly racing from Sydney to Pittwater on Saturday, then turning around sailing the Short Haul Passage Pointscore back to Watsons Bay on Sunday.

Saturday morning saw the teams head out to the start line in between Point Piper and Clark Island for an 1100hrs start, but due to light breeze were postponed for a short period. As a building north-easterly made it way down Sydney Harbour teams were able to gain some race course insights from the tail end of the Mount Gay Ocean Pointscore racers which were on their way out of Sydney Heads.

With warm weather and clear skies the teams were set for a pleasant race with the breeze settling in at 8-14 knots throughout the afternoon. Once finishing on the inner waters of Pittwater, it was time to enjoy the afternoon and evening before the return journey in the morning.

Once again the start time was set for 1100hrs with the line near the iconic Barrenjoey Headland. The teams were once again graced with a building north-easterly breeze which made for a quick return journey down Sydney’s Northern Beaches with elapsed race times cut in half by the 15-20 knot winds.

Congratulations to Saturday’s Division winners of Cam Wayland’s Hunky Dory in PHS and Ian Guanaria’s One More-No More in IRC who also went on to claim both PHS and IRC Divisions in Sunday’s return journey race.
