The NSW Yachting Championships and Act 3 of the TP52 Gold Cup at Sail Port Stephens, started with a bang amid splendid conditions for the first two days of the Regatta, but unfortunately the third and final day was abandoned, due to high winds.
Our CYCA Members David Doherty (Matador), Matt Donald and Chris Townsend (Gweilo) and Craig Neil (Quest) experienced some sublime sailing during the series, which has become a firm favourite on the Regatta circuit.
Principal Race Officer, Denis Thompson, recounted how just as they started, they recorded 20-22 knots and not long after that, gusts over 30 knots. It was when sails and other equipment started to get damaged, it was time to call the race off.
Well done to those who competed and achieved some great results.
