The historic Vessel Wayfarer, which was owned by Peter Luke, co-founder of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia who passed away in September at 92 years of age, is for sale.
Wayfarer was built by Charlie Larson, designed by John G. Alden and launched in 1940. The boat has great historical significance having competed in the inaugural Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in 1945.
Luke owned the boat for 67 years, from 1940 until this year, participating in four Sydney Hobarts, the last in 1951, and many of the club’s coastal races, but he was a cruising man at heart.
