Some 100 skippers and their crews attended an informative and entertaining session on the new rules at the CYCA on Tuesday evening.
Vice Commodore and Sailing Committee Chairman Garry Linacre welcomed the attendees and introduced the presenter – Mark Pryke, International Judge and Race Officer – whom he described as not only extremely knowledgeable on the subject but an excellent communicator of the rules, and so it proved.
A lively session followed with no electronic aids, just Mark and his whiteboard and his boat models. Keen interest from the floor and many very relevant questions meant that the session ran for nearly three hours, with a welcome break for refreshments.
All attendees questioned felt that the evening was entertaining and invaluable, and should be repeated once we have more experience of racing under the new rules: all appreciated Mark’s understanding of and enthusiasm for the subject, and enjoyed his fluent and witty presentation. – Roger Wragby
