Cruising Christmas BBQ

Once again the combining of the Blues Point Yacht Club and the CYCA Cruising proved to be a great success for all CYCA members who attended.

The race prior to the get together was quite a challenge with a forecast of up to 30 kts which reduced the fleet considerably.

Fortunately for most who competed the wind did not come in until the race had all but finished and then at only 24 Kts,however the opposite occurred during in the event with the wind actually dropping to 1 knot for about 20 minutes which, added to a huge run out tide, made things quite interesting especially at the Lady Bay mark.  But all in all a great fun sail for all who competed.
Needless to say as usual the catering and get together was great and left nothing to be desired for all who attended. 

One of the highlights was an auction to assist Nick McLoughlin, a long term CYCA & BPYC member who is suffering with terminal Motor neurone disease.  I am extremely pleased to report the contribution of the CYCA to the event assisted greatly.

I wish to thank Mark and Marina and the members who attended for their assistance in enabling this to happen as they are in dire straits at the moment and the contribution of the funds raised, together with the donation of the Christmas hamper by the winner of the raffle, has brought a little joy into  their Christmas.
Naomi, Nicks wife, has asked me to convey to all who contributed their appreciation for this support.
 
It is also wonderful to report that Colin Aleck has now been moved out of  intensive care and is hopefully on the road to recovery.
 
The Club Marine Cruise to Hobart information evening was a success with a number of yachts now confirming they will definitely be participating, but the more the better so if you know someone that may be interested please ask them to contact Denis Doyle(dddoyle@bigpond.net.au), David Champtaloup (davidchamptaloup@mac.com) or the Sailing Office for further information.
