Mr Beak’s Ribs leads Blue Water Pointscore

David Beak’s Mr Beaks Ribs holds a three point advantage over Ed Psaltis & Bob Thomas’ AFR Midnight Rambler after the Flinders Islet was conducted on the weekend.

With one race to go in the seven race Blue Water Championship, it all comes down to the last race – the Audi Sydney Offshore Newcastle Yacht Race to be held on 27 March 2009 to determine the CYCA’s Blue Water Champion.

Conditions on Friday night were solid with 18 knots of NE breeze on the start line for the eleven boat fleet.

Syd Fischer’s Ragamuffin had a great start and led out of the harbor with Graeme Wood’s Wot Yot close on her heels.
With such strong conditions all boats had rounded the islet at the midnight sked, with Ragamuffin placed near Stanwell Park at the 0700hrs sked. Conditions on the run home were hard on the nose as the wind swung to a more northerly breeze during Saturday morning. Tony Kirby’s Patrice SiX stayed close to shore and got battered by some big waves but was still able to finish strongly.

Ragamuffin took a line honours win from Graeme Wood’s Wot Yot with Tony Kirby’s Patrice SiX third.

In the IRC overall results, Patrice Six took the win with David Beak’s Mr Beak’s Ribs second and Phil Molony’s Papillion third.

Currently the leader board for the Bluewater Pointscore (after 6 races with one drop having been applied) is:

  1. Mr Beak’s Ribs (David Beak) 16 points
  2. AFR Midnight Rambler (SEB Corporate Promotions) 19 points
  3. Ragamuffin (Syd Fischer) 21 points
