The CYCA will this Wednesday host an evening with Grant Simmer, managing director and design coordinator of Alinghi’s successful defence of the 32nd America’s Cup.

Grant started sailing when he was eight years old. He went on to study mechanical engineering, taking part in his first America’s Cup in 1983 as navigator on Australia II. In 1984 he became co-owner of North Sails Australia and in 2000 he decided he needed a change of scenery and sold out of the business. In the same year he took charge of coordinating the Alinghi design team. Alinghi’s recent successful defence was Grant’s seventh America’s Cup.

CYCA members and guests are invited to enjoy a dinner with fellow club member Grant Simmer as he shares his experiences of defending and winning the 32nd America’s Cup. 

The function will be held in the Freya & Morna Rooms starting at 7pm on Wednesday 8 August.

Members $75 per person, non-members $95 per person. Includes pre-dinner drinks, two course meal including coffee and petit fours and beer, wine and soft drink for three hours (cash bar thereafter).
