The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) is proud to again host the Australian Youth Match Racing Championships for 2008. Held in Tasmania in 2007, the Yachting Australia endorsed ISAF Grade 3 event is rotated around the different states each year with the 2008 championships being held on the waters of Sydney Harbour from the 17-21 September.

The Regatta will be sailed in the CYCA’s fleet of ten Elliott 6’s with each team allocated a different spinnaker colour to allow easier tracking of the competition on the water. Teams can be made up of 3 or 4 crew and a weight limit will apply.

The event will consist of two round robins (conducted on Thursday and Friday) followed by a semi-final round (on Saturday) and final round (on Sunday), as well as a sail-off for the minor placings. All entrants can expect at least 20 races over a four-day period.

NSW will be represented by four teams – 2 from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia and two from Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, with one team each from QLD, WA, VIC and NT.
