CYCA third in RANSA’s Admiral’s Trophy

A division win by Ray Stone at the helm of Razor’s Edge and a second by The Tavern, skippered by Ian Guanaria , gave the CYCA a third place overall in the Admiral’s Trophy, the major event of Sunday’s annual RANSA Regatta on the Harbour.

CYCA members supported the RANSA Regatta, which also raises funds for the Sir David Martin Foundation that supports youth programs that assist marginalised young in our community in making a positive step towards a better future.

Sailed in a fresh breeze, the regatta had handicap starts over courses around harbour marks and attracted almost 80 starters for a perfect day on Sydney Harbour.

The Admiral’s Trophy result was based on the best results from four of the six divisions counting towards each club’s score, with Razor’s Edge winning Division 2 and The Tavern finishing 2nd in Division 1.

The RAN Sailing Association (RANSA) won the Admiral’s Trophy with 6 points under the low scoring system with the Sydney Amateur Sailing second on 19 points and the CYCA third on 21 points. Eleven Sydney Harbour clubs were represented.

The CYCA’s Caprice of Huon, skippered by David Champtaloup, won the strongly supported Classic Yacht Division, but that result did not count towards the Admiral’s Trophy. – Peter Campbell
