Over 230 people attended the 2008 Summer Prize Giving on Friday 4 April 2008.  Guests were wined and dined in true CYCA and L’eat style.

The Summer Prize Giving culminated in Ragamuffin being presented with a 9th BlueWater PointScore trophy for a highly successful summer series.

“This award is not just for me, but for all of my crew.  Without such a terrific crew, I don’t think we could have achieved this result,” said Syd Fischer, Skipper of Ragamuffin.

The Cherana Trophy was presented to Attitude for their Short Haul Pointscore win.  The trophy was rededicated by John Keelty, CYCA Cruising Captain, who won the original trophy sailing on his yacht Cherana.

Other standouts in the Summer Series include Brilliant‘s Division 3 Short Ocean Pointscore win, with George Piggott winning the Julius Charody Perpetual Trophy for Mainsheet Hand, and Limit being presented with the Malcolm Halliday Memorial Trophy for 1st place PHS Tasman Performance Series, Halvorsen Brothers Trophy for 1st IRC Cabbage Tree Island race, Woollahra Cup  for 1st PHS Cabbage Tree Island Race and 3rd place IRC Blue Water pointscore.

The tireless race officials, crew liaison and sailing committee were also acknowledged for their efforts throughout the series. One of the start boat team, Pam Brinsmead, retired at the end of the Summer Series and was presented with a momento in recognition for her many years as a volunteer by Rear Commodore Cranitch. – Jennifer Crooks
