A new-look Cruising Yacht Club of Australia Board was elected unopposed at the Club’s 2022 Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 12 July.
Following the end of his two-year tenure, Noel Cornish AM stepped down from his position as Commodore.
Bradshaw Kellett has also stepped down from the Board as he is currently working overseas and felt at this point in his career he didn’t have the time to dedicate to a Board position.
Over the years, Bradshaw has been an integral part of the Club’s Sailing Committee, Premises Committee and History and Archives Committee, which he Chaired.
He was appointed to the Board in 2018, serving as a Director for two years before moving into the role of Rear Commodore in 2020.
Arthur Lane is the new CYCA Commodore, as Jules Hall and Kevin Whelan join the Board for the first time.

In his final Commodore’s Report, Noel reflected on the challenges and privilege of serving as Commodore during arguably the most turbulent period in the Club’s history.
In his first address as Commodore, Arthur thanked Noel and Bradshaw for their service to the Club as Board members, and looked ahead to an exciting chapter for the new Board.
“As the 40th Commodore of this wonderful Club, I stand here and look at the Past Commodores, our Life Members, the 50-Year Members and think of what they’ve all achieved; how they’ve given so much to this Club,” Commodore Lane said.
“It’s a truly humbling experience and it’s a responsibility that cannot be taken lightly.
“It seems a lifetime ago that Past Commodore and Life Member Matt Allen originally nominated me for a position on this Board. It’s been a very exciting and rewarding journey.
“The rich history of this Club must be respected and honoured. I will do everything possible to protect and promote our shared goals and values.”
The AGM was also an opportunity to acknowledge the Life Members and 50-Year Members from the last three years, with the AGMs in 2020 and 2021 held online due to the pandemic.
Among those in attendance were Life Members Matt Allen AM and David Champtaloup, and 50-Year Members Roger Bamber, Thomas Illy, Mike Fletcher AM, David Herlihy, John Walton AM, John Brooks, Bill Riley and Kerry Roxburgh AM.
Immediate Past Commodore Cornish also congratulated other Members who reached the 50-Year milestone from 2020-22, including: Gary Cassim, David Colfelt, Peter Shipway, Ronald Stevens, Ronald Allen, Arthur Eady, John Harris, David Kellett AM, Rob Mundle OAM, Bob Ross, Spencer Easton, Samuel Gazal, Sir James Hardy OBE, Geoff Rouvray, George Snow and Hugh Treharne OAM.
