In a great first performance, Matt Allen and James Mayo’s 100-foot supermaxi Comanche has taken Line Honours in the 2024/25 Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore’s Tollgate Islands Race.

At midday, Comanche was just 23.9 nautical miles from the finish line at Watsons Bay, ultimately finishing the race on 19 Oct after 18 hours, 45 minutes and 48 seconds.

Comanche showcased her dominance, holding an 85nm lead over second-placed URM Group. Averaging 14 knots over the course, Comanche surged ahead at a current speed of 19.4 knots, leaving her competitors in her wake. In comparison, URM Group averaged 7.9 knots.

Not only did Comanche lead on the water, but she also regained her lead in both the IRC and PHS standings, the only Division 1 boat ahead of all Division 2 competitors at the time of posting.

With favourable conditions and a southerly breeze in the mid-teens, the fleet continued their push towards the finish, though many still had significant distance to cover.
