Australia Day is always a great occasion at CYCA! While the Australia Day Council of NSW’s normal on-water festivities won’t be going ahead due to COVID19 safety measures, we are pleased to report the Australia Day Regatta and City of Sydney Cup will take place as usual.
The Australia Day Regatta is acclaimed as the oldest continuously-conducted annual sailing regatta in the world, having been held each year since 1837. This colourful event is held on Sydney Harbour and surrounding waters and is a celebration of Australian life — it’s all about community, inclusiveness and being at one with nature.
The City of Sydney Cup forms part of the overall Australia Day Regatta events and is an offshore race to Botany Bay and return conducted by CYCA. The City of Sydney Cup is contested by CYCA’s Ocean, Short Ocean, Combined, and Short Haul Pointscores (if you have a block entry in any of these pointscores you don’t need to submit a seperate entry), and you may also enter the race casually too – click here to enter.
On-land, Cafe 44 will be serving up delicious Australian food specials available from midday. The menu has an Aussie flavour for every taste from beautiful barramundi, scrumptious lamb burger, classic Aussie Angus rump and a delectable Tim Tam custard slice. Please note, Clubhouse capacity is limited and table bookings are recommended – book now.
For takeway drinks, the Sydney Hobart Bar has cases of VB for $65, Bundy & cola 12-packs for $60, or Vodka Cruiser four-packs for $15.
