2023/24 Club Marine Short Ocean Pointscore finishes in light conditions

On Saturday 23 March 2024 the last race in the 2023/24 Club Marine Short Ocean Pointscore unfolded on a becalmed Sydney Harbour. The ninth, and final, race of the series saw six competitors’ line up to find advantages in the fickle breeze.

In Division 1, it were Ian Box’s Toybox 2 and Robert Carr’s Jambo who battled it out with Ian getting the upper hand in the light breeze, he shared: “We made the decision to go further offshore looking for more breeze and found one or two extra knots of pressure which helped us gap the boats behind us. We were sailing upwind to the top mark at that stage. Near the end of the day we were happy to find stronger and more settled breeze when we came back into the Harbour.”

Division 2 saw a more competitive fleet with small margins separating the top placers. At the end of the day, it was Peter Sorensen’s Advanced Philosophy who was able to find the biggest gains out of the fleet. Finishing 59 seconds ahead of second placer Stormaway and 1 minute, 18 seconds ahead of Wailea, who came third.
