This weekend will see the opening round of the 2020 SailGP season kick off on Sydney Harbour. As part of a new initiative by the circuit, a youth program has been introduced to the Sydney event which will see sailors 13-16 years of age compete in the SailGP Inspire program.

The CYCA was invited to participate in the series, with two of our Youth Sailing Academy (YSA) young sailors selected. Ava Smith and Henry Myer, who both participated in our Talented Sailor Squad in 2019 and will continue in 2020 will be representing the Club.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for these sailors to not only compete but also meet some of the other SailGP athletes such as our YSA graduates Kyle Langford and Sam Newton, who no doubt are inspiring the next generation of sailors. Racing will take place on Friday 28 February around Shark Island.
