The NSW Government will be implementing Level 1 water restrictions in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra from Saturday 1 June 2019. Water restrictions apply to all individuals and businesses including, of course, Cruising Yacht Club of Australia and our Members.
When do water restrictions commence and how long are they in force?
Water restrictions commence Saturday 1 June and will be in force until otherwise advised by the Government.
How does this affect me when using Club facilities?
What you can do:
- Wash boats with a bucket, a hose fitted with a trigger nozzle or high pressure cleaning equipment
- Flush boat engines using purpose-designed devices
- Clean bilges and essential safety components on boat trailers such as brakes and wheels using a hose fitted with a trigger nozzle or high pressure cleaning equipment
What you can’t do:
- Wash boats with a hose that isn’t fitted with a trigger nozzle or high pressure cleaning equipment
- Leave hoses running unattended
Use of water excluded from restrictions:
- Water used for firefighting, testing and related activities
- Water used for dust suppression and concrete mixing
How are the water restrictions enforced?
For any breach of the above restrictions, the Government will issue fines of:
- $220 for breaches by individuals
- $550 for breaches by companies
Please note: in the event a company penalty is incurred by CYCA which has been caused by a breach from an individual, the Club will forward the penalty to the offender(s). If you see someone who you believe to be breaching restrictions, please offer a friendly reminder or contact a Staff member who will be more than happy to discuss the current restrictions.
