Video Archive Project – Hugh Treharne OAM

Episode 31 of the CYCA Video Archive Project features Hugh Treharne OAM, a member of the CYCA Hall of Fame.

Hugh joined the Club in 1971 and is one of the most exceptional sailors in Australia, having won the America’s Cup in 1983, Admiral’s Cup in 1979, Sydney Hobart Yacht Race twice (1992 and 1993), the Fastnet Race in 1971, the World One Ton Cup in 1971 and Half Ton Cup in 1975, and the World 18ft Skiff Championship in 1970.

Part 1 of the interview covers Hugh’s early sailing days, 16-foot skiffs, Moonbird with Norm Brooker, 18-foot skiffs, Ragamuffin with Syd Fischer, 1971 Fastnet, Stormy Petrel and the One Ton Cup, Foxy Lady and the Half Ton Cup.
