It is with great sadness that we report the recent passing of CYCA member Yvonne Mavis Byrne in St Vincent’s Hospital.
Yvonne had suffered silently with her health for a short time but her sudden passing still came as a shock to those close to her.
She will be especially remembered for the devotion and support she gave her late husband Arthur and his brother Leo (deceased) who together started the Leo and Jenny Leukaemia and Cancer Foundation, (now Cure Cancer Australia), ironically the same disease that would cause her demise.
Her generosity also supported many other charities.
Yvonne was a long-time member of the CYCA and her happy disposition and boundless energy will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and condolences are with Yvonne’s family and friends.
She was 20 days short of her 83rd birthday.
At Yvonne’s request, a private service was held in the Sutherland Shire for family and close friends.
