Vale Anthony Crichton-Brown

It is with great sadness the CYCA reports the passing of Member Anthony Crichton-Brown.

The son of Past Commodore Sir Robert Crichton-Brown, Anthony spent much of his life sailing with his father and in some famous campaigns.

Anthony was a crew member aboard his father’s yacht Balandra when they won the 1967 Admiral’s Cup, becoming the first Australian team in history to do so. Anthony also crewed on Pacha, another of his father’s yachts, to win the 1970 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Anthony resided in England but returned to Australia to sail in the 1967 Admiral’s Cup 50th Anniversary Regatta with fellow crewmates Bruce Gould, Peter Doran and Peter Hemery at which he donated the Balandra Plate in memory of his father.

Anthony passed in London this week from COVID-19 complications. Our thoughts and condolences are with Anthony’s family and friends.
