The Middle Harbour Yacht Club has once again run the always anticipated Sydney Harbour Regatta with perfect conditions for racing. Yachts from all over Sydney made their way out to one of the many race courses to compete in a two day series.
With a light north east breeze on Saturday, 10-15 knots from the north east on Sunday and 160 yachts competing across 20 divisions/classes, there was close racing all over the Sydney Harbour.
In the TP52 division it was an all CYCA affair, with Gordon Ketelbey’s Zen taking out first place on both IRC and ORCi with Sam Haynes Celestial first on EHC.
Matt Wilkinson’s Foreign Affair was a close second on PHS in the Super 30 class with only one and a half points separating them and Bruce Tavener’s Ophir in first.
The J70 class saw Reg Lord and his crew on Juno take out first place after a protest saw the crew on The Jackal disqualified from two races, fellow CYCA member Tim Ryan on James finished in second.
Open Class Div2 saw Mark Gorbatov’s Blink sitting in second place in ORCi Div2 and the end of the weekend.
Yputakiteup and Symbiosis were placed first and third respectively in Performance non spinnaker, with Edward Bramich’s Sea Change in fourth and Jayargee in fifth.
