Strong wind and grey skies for Short Ocean Pointscore race

It was a cool, windy but fun day for the teams who made it to the start line of Saturday’s Short Ocean Pointscore race.

Conducted by the Middle Harbour Yacht Club Race Team, the race started 1200hrs from Sydney Harbour before heading offshore and then back to the finish in Watsons Bay.

The 19 teams enjoyed a consistent 19-23 knots nor-nor-easterly breeze which only dropped slightly as the day continued. With good breeze throughout, the fastest boat was able to sail home in a little over 2 hours 30 minutes while the slowest still had a great run, coming in a little over an hour later.

On IRC handicap, Ian Box’s XP 44 Toy Box (MHYC) took the honours in Div1 with Jack Stenning and Colin Gunn’s Sydney 36 Stormaway (MHYC) taking Div2. In ORCi, the Div1 crown went to Toy Box with Dennis Cooper’s Sydney 36 CR Mod Amante (CYCA) claiming Div2. The PHS Div1 honours were won by David Walsh’s Elliott 52 Gunshot (CYCA) while Sean Rahilly & Justin Pelly’s Sydney 36 CR Crosshaven (CYCA) took Div2.
