Short Ocean Pointscore – Race 6

This week’s Short Ocean Pointscore race was conducted by the Middle Harbour Yacht Club with the initial plan for competitors to be sailing a coastal course. With weather predictions showing a strong easterly and not abating on race day, the course was changed to keep competitors within the harbour.

Across the race, Rob Aldis’ Kayimai showed great form and was able to take top spot across ORCi, PHS and IRC in Division 1. Behind her in both IRC and PHS Division 1 was Ian Box’s Toy Box 2 and Robert Cox’s Nine Dragons in second and third respectively.

Division 2 saw a spread of winners throughout the rating and handicap systems. In PHS Simon Oliver’s Odyssey took the top spot in front of Neil Padden’s Wailea and John Amos’ Utopia. IRC was topped by J Stenning and C Gunn’s Stormaway with Dennis Cooper’s Amante in second and Sean Rahilly and Justin Pelly’s Crosshaven in third. ORCi saw Amante take first with other entrants not competing the division 2.

The next race in the Short Ocean Pointscore will be hosted by the CYCA on Saturday 22 February.
