Both Short Ocean and Combined Pointscore sailed the same course which started off Neilson Park at 1200hrs Saturday 9 March.

With the southerly breeze direction, the first leg was set for a downwind run to Sydney Heads. This made for an exciting start as teams jostled to not be pushed over the line but find a position with enough space to hoist their spinnakers and sail down the harbour. Once out through Sydney Heads crews sailed to an offshore turning mark east of Queenscliff beach, followed by two windward-leeward legs before returning to Sydney Harbour and finishing in Watsons Bay.

Crews were treated to some not so glamorous conditions with gloomy skies and patches of rain, however with 8-15 knots of breeze, entrants were able to make good time and be back at the Club before some of the afternoon showers.

Short Ocean Pointscore divisional winners included Walter Carpenter’s Samarkand in PHS Div1, Colin Gunn’s Stormaway in PHS and IRC Div2, Bob Cox’s Nine Dragons in IRC Div1 and Seb Bohm’s Smuggler in ORCi Div1.

Combined Ocean/Short Ocean Pointscore divisional winners included Seb Bohm’s Smuggler in PHS and IRC Div1, Bryan Moore’s Shibumi in PHS Div2 and Matt Hanning’s Supernova in IRC Div2.
