Donald Graham’s Corby 49 Vamp and JC Strong’s Etchells Flying High claimed their first wins of the 2021-22 Sharp EIT Monday Twilight Series, with victories in Race 5.
In a modest 8-12 knots of breeze, Daryl Hodgkinson’s Carkeek 40 Victoire was first across the line in Division 1, closely followed by Vamp, who took the win on corrected time ahead of Matt Wilkinson’s Farr 30 Foreign Affair, and Victoire.
Phil Herscovics’ Sydney 38 Shine On continued her strong start to the series, finishing fourth overall to open up a three-point lead at the top of the pointscore standings.
Flying High (RSYS) led the way in Division 2, taking line honours by 90 seconds from Robert Skol’s Scarlett O’Hara (RANSA). That secured a comfortable overall win for JC Strong, who now has back-to-back podium finishes.
Tony Booth’s J920 Selkie (RPEYC) has emerged as the boat to beat in Division 2. Selkie has been on the podium in all three races so far, adding a second-place finish in Race 5 to her win in Race 4 and third-place in Race 3.
Selkie now holds a seven-point lead over George Waldthausen’s Cavalier 350SL Superfine in the Division 2 overall pointscore standings.
