Rupert Henry’s Eora impresses in CIC Normandy Channel Race

Congratulations to CYCA Member Rupert Henry, who finished sixth with his Lombard Class 40 Eora in the CIC Normandy Channel Race.

Rupert entered the 1,000 nautical mile two-handed race with co-skipper Jack Bouttell, heading into the race with low expectations against some of the world’s best shorthanded sailors.

Eora finished in 4 days, 20 hours, 27 minutes and 57 seconds, just over five hours behind the winning yacht, Credit Mutuel.

The Normandy Channel Race is the first of three major challenges Rupert is taking on across the world in 2022.

In July, he will compete in the 1000nm, single-handed Drheam Cup, which also sets off from France.

That will have him well prepared for the 3,600nm Route du Rhum – one of the world’s biggest single-handed races.

Read more about Rupert’s adventures in the Winter issue of Offshore, due to be published in mid-June.
