Price wins Warren Jones Regatta

It was an intense five days of racing for the two Youth Sailing Academy teams who made their way to Perth to compete in the Warren Jones Regatta.

This year saw the two teams skippered by Harry Price and Tom Grimes take on an international lineup including teams from Australia, New Zealand, France, Great Britan, Denmark, USA and Sweden. After many intense battles throughout two round robins which it was Price and his team who were seated at the top of the table on 19 points, ahead of fellow YSA team skippered by Tom Grimes on 15 points. Closely behind them were Nich Egnot-Johnson and his team from New Zealand followed by the local Perth team skippered by Will Boulden.

Heading into the semi-finals Price decided to race Grimes. Price was able to take the first race before Grimes evened the scored board in the second race. Unfortunately for Grimes, it was not to be with Price taking the third race and proceeding to the finals. Grimes them went on to race local skipper Boulden where Grimes was able to take two consecutive wins and solidify his team a spot on the podium.

The final series between Price and New Zealander Egnot-Johnson was no easy match up with many close roundings and crosses. It was a strong show from Price and his team winning the first two races, putting them in the box seat going into the third race. Tight racing throughout saw Price and his team managing to keep Egnot-Johnson at bay by a margin of only a few seconds as they crossed the finish line to take first place.

Joining Harry Price on his Downunder Racing team was Harry Hall, Taylor Balogh, Josh Wijohn, along with local sailor, Niall Morrow.

Tom Grimes competed with James Hodgson, Louis Schofield, Nick Rozenauers and Charlie Gundy.
