Rupert has embarked on a shorthanded global challenge with his Lombard Class 40, Eora.

He finished an impressive sixth out of 30 boats in the recent CIC Normandy Channel Race, a two-handed 1,000 nautical mile race for Class 40s.

In July, he will compete in the 1000nm, single-handed Drheam Cup, which also sets off from France.

That will have him well prepared for the 3,600nm Route du Rhum – one of the world’s biggest single-handed races.

In our live discussion, Rupert will discuss the motivation behind his challenge and his experience of the gruelling Normandy Channel Race.
