‘Not Lord Howe Island BBQ cruise’ underway

A contingent of CYCA boats set out this weekend for what has affectionately been dubbed the ‘Not Lord Howe Island BBQ Cruise’.

After the annual Lord Howe Island BBQ Cruise had to be re-imagined for 2020 due to the impact of the pandemic, the team of organisers sought a new destination, eventually landing on Soldiers Point, Port Stephens.

Cruising stalwarts Denis Doyle and Lynne Smith, onboard their Cigale 16 Ariki Tai, are among the CYCA group currently heading north.

“We had a delightful sail overnight Saturday arriving Broughton Island early Sunday,” said Doyle. “It was an absolutely beautiful, hot day at anchor today in company with the Swan 65 Eve, Halvorsen 38 Anitra V and others.”

“We will head into Port Stephens shortly for the ‘Not Lord Howe Island BBQ’ Tuesday night. Attendance at the BBQ is still growing and should be more than 15 boats!”
