Monday Twilight – Race 17

With Sydney slipping out of the summer months, the warm sunny days and sea breezes are becoming less common with some storms and southerly changes frequently appearing on the Sydney Harbour race course. This week saw a southerly during the day swing around to a light easterly by the time crews made it out to the race course. With only five to eight knots across the harbour, the Race Committee considered all the variables and decided to send the entrants on a shortened course from the start which would still allow crews to finish racing and return to the club at a reasonable time.

After a fiery start to Division 1 when two boats where pushed over before the starting horn everyone settled in to a smooth and casual race.

Divisional winners included Clare Crawford’s Assassin in PHS Div1, Gary Mason’s Jagged Edge in PHS Div2 and Darryl Hodgkinson’s Victoire in IRC Div1.

This weeks race also marked the end of the Monday Twilight Summer Pointscore. The divisional winners included, Phil Tomkins’ Adrenalin in PHS Div1 with a substantial 12 point gap back to sencond, Anthony Booth’s Selkie in PHS Div2 taking out the top spot by only half a point and Darryl Hodgkinson’s Victoire claiming IRC by the same margin.
