Mattijs Willenborg wins Reed & Mackay Spring eSeries

Over the past four weeks Members have been taking part in our Reed & Mackay Spring eSeries. Each week, five races were conducted via the online sailing platform Virtual Regatta using a range of classes. With some of the on-water umpiring decisions were heavily disputed, five Members enjoyed race wins over the 20-race series.

The opening weekend saw Mattijs Willenborg, Adam Mowser and Sam Price trade line honours in each of the five races, finishing the day tied on equal points. Sam Price broke away in Week 2, and although only won one race, saw consistent results inside the top four becoming the boat of the day.

Week 3 belonged to Darcy McCracken who, again without recording a race win, came away as the boat of the day. Having missed the opening week of racing, Darcy quickly climbed into fourth overall heading into the final week.

The final weekend of racing saw Sam Price hold a slim lead over Mattijs Willenborg and Adam Mowser also in contention in third. All three took race wins on the final day, with Adam Mowser named boat of the day. His strong final performance was enough to secure third overall in the series whilst the title battle came down the drops allowed from each week.

Whilst Sam Price showed more consistency over the four-week series, Mattijs Willenborg took out the Reed & Mackay Spring eSeries title having a better race drop series.

The Club will be looking to host another series during September with a Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions available shortly.
