Matador sweeps TP52 Gold Cup Act II

The Sydney TP52 scene’s most recent addition, Matador, has claimed both the IRC and TPR handicaps at the TP52 Gold Cup Act II regatta held over the weekend.

The grand prix racer owned by CYCA Member David Doherty was competing in just its second official regatta after posting a promising fourth on IRC and third on TPR at last month’s Gold Cup Act I held during SailFest Newcastle.

Light winds were served up early on both days with the Matador crew able to take full advantage of the conditions. While many of their competitors made crucial fumbles, Matador‘s consistency paid off with the team claiming podium positions in all four races leading to the ultimate win.

All other competing boats were owned by CYCA Members with Matt Allen’s Ichi Ban and Tony Kirby’s Patrice finishing second and third respectively on IRC while Matt Donald & Chris Townsend’s Gweilo and Gordon Ketelbey’s Zen placed second and third respectively on TPR.
