The overcast weather forecast didn’t stop 18 yachts from getting out on Sydney Harbour for the penultimate race of the 2024/25 Network Marine Insurance Monday Twilight Series.
The Love Byte crew performed well in a relatively light 10-knot northeasterly. The Sydney 38 placed first on PHS in Division 1, ahead of Alex Seja’s Supernova in second place and Darryl Hodgkinson’s Carkeek 40 Victoire in third.

Nick Potter, one of the owner’s of Love Byte, was pleased with how the race played out.
“It was a really good race,” Potter said. “With the symmetrical spinnaker we sailed the angles to keep speed in the light weather. We didn’t make any mistakes.”
Love Byte has been a regular competitor in the 2024/25 Monday Twilight Series. The crew has used the series to work on their spinnaker manoeuvres in preparation for the Sydney 38 NSW State Championship which was held in Pittwater in February and for the upcoming LGT Crestone Winter Series.

“We love the Monday Twilight Series,” Potter said. “It helps us prepare for upcoming events like the Winter Series. It now shows when we go through kite gybes, drops and sets. We measure ourselves against great racing yachts like [Noel Cornish’s Farr 40] Indi.”
On the Overall standings, David Davies’ BH 36 Local Hero leads Division 1 on PHS, ahead of Phil Herscovics’ Sydney 38 Shine On – Team Callendina in second place and Greg Mason’s Davidson 37 Sine Wave in third.
