Thanks to all the wonderful women who attended Ladies’ Night at the CYCA on Friday May 17th. Almost 90 female Members and their guests attended to mingle, chat and get to know one another whilst enjoying nibbles and cocktails.
Those attending reflected the broad age spectrum of CYCA Members. Belinda Christie was there with her daughter Ashleigh, who at 18 has recently joined as an Associate and at the other end of the spectrum was Pam Neate, who last Wednesday celebrated her 82nd birthday and has been an Associate Member for over 26 years.
Ladies’ night was introduced in 2015 when Pam Messenger was the CYCA Associate’s President, to establish contact and camaraderie amongst the female Members of the Club.
The numbers and roles of women at the CYCA have changed over the years and this diversity was also reflected on Friday night. There were women who sail, both socially and competitively, those that come to the Club for the social events; and those that donate their time to the Club volunteering and fundraising and of course many who come to the Club for a combination of all.
An entertaining new addition to the 2019 Ladies night was the fashion parade exhibiting the CYCA 75th Anniversary merchandise. This proved to be a great success with five of our CYCA Youth Sailing Academy Members walking the catwalk and showing the stunning new 75th anniversary clothing. Thanks to Jess Grimes, Louis Schofield, Finn Tapper, Jess Tavener and James Watson for such an entertaining and enjoyable event on the night.
The evening ended with a draw for a number of lucky door prizes putting smiles on the faces of those who won. Thanks to Hunt Leather for their prize donation, the CYCA for donating and Marina for organizing the other prizes.
