JPK Pacific Two-Handed Pointscore – Race 3

The third race of the JPK Pacific Two-Handed Pointscore was the first of the Category 2 rated races and second-longest of the whole series.

With this added challenge of the longer distance and time, the race was made ever more tactical with light and fickle wind conditions as soon the race was underway. With no wind at the starting line for the scheduled time of 1000hrs, the start was postponed until the forecast wind started to settle.

After a battle with near mirror-like conditions, it was Rupert Henry and his Burning Palms who were able to sneak away into Rose Bay and catch the start of the easterly breeze to accelerate up the harbour.

After making it out of the Harbour it was a continual battle the whole way north to the finish in Newcastle.

At the end of the race, it was Rupert Henry’s Burning Palms who topped PHS ahead of Jiang Lin’s Min River and Mitchell Gordon’s Goat.

IRC saw Burning Palms at the top once again this time with Shane Connelly’s Local Hero in second.

ORCi saw Min River to the table followed by Local Hero in second.
