Invictus Games Sydney 2018 comes to the CYCA

The CYCA, RSYS, RPAYC and RANSA have been working together with Invictus Games Sydney 2018 to ensure that Sailing is a great success when it makes its debut on the Invictus Games competition schedule this year. We are excited to share the detail of the event and how you can take part.

The Sailing base will host competitors, families and the media as the boats are prepared and head around to Farm Cove for the competition. Exact times and location of the course will be weather dependent, and the on-water management will be handled by the RPAYC. This is a free event, and you can watch the action onshore around Farm Cove or on water outside the exclusion zone – why not get a group together and head out!

After racing concludes, it’s back to the CYCA where the medal ceremony will take place at the Sailing base. This will be restricted to competitors and their family and friends. Finally, we move on to the CYCA after-party for the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 Sailing competition from 5:30pm.

Craig McGrath is one of the Australians competing in the Sailing competition of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 – head to the Offshore page to read his story in the August-September 2018 issue of Offshore magazine (page 22).

SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS

Invictus Games Sydney 2018 is a high profile event which is attracting media, political and public interest both here in Australia and Internationally. As such, please refer to the infographic above for the changes that will affect you during the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 Sailing competition period.

We would especially like Members to note that there will be no parking on site on 21 October due to the proximity of our car parks to the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 venue. In addition to this, any car left overnight in the car park on 20 October will be removed. We hope you can appreciate that the CYCA must comply with the security overlay for such a high profile event.

AFTER-PARTY!

After the medal ceremony we’re turning the Sailing base into the CYCA after-party for the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 Sailing competition from 5:30pm. Sydney favourites Jellybean Jam will be playing throughout the evening, with drinks on arrival and food stations provided by Blond @ CYCA and our own Breakfast Club. We’re aiming to end the competition in CYCA style and deliver a memorable event, which the competitors and their families will treasure forever. This event sold-out in a very short time to CYCA Members and their guests, but some of the atmosphere can still be captured from the newly-refurbished Clubhouse!
