2023 Hamilton Island Race Week kicks off

This week we are excited that so many from the Club are taking part in the popular winter destination regatta Hamilton Island Race Week. Today it’s sunny and 19 degrees and for the Short Around the Islands race there are trade winds in the forecast. There is south to southeasterly breeze at 15-18 knots (with higher gusts at times) tending east to southeasterly in the middle of the day.

There are 1,000 sailors, crewing around 180 yachts, multihulls and trailables, from every state in Australia, as well as four yachts from New Zealand and one from New Caledonia.

The 38th edition of Hamilton Island Race Week, is the largest offshore keelboat regatta in the Southern Hemisphere – and this year it even welcomes our very own CYCA Commodore Arthur Lane on Wilde Rush.
Please look out for him and be sure to say hello if you see him.

We feel confident this is going to be yet another action-packed week of offshore racing across the waters of the beautiful Whitsundays, and we eagerly anticipate the competition between Wild Oats XI and Andoo Comanche.
