FAQs | Our new-look Clubhouse

An exciting new layout at the refurbished CYCA is improving the experience of Members and guests. See below for the latest information on what’s happening at the Club, how the Club was unveiled and what changes have been made.

 

When does the new-look Clubhouse open?
The new-look Clubhouse opened on Thursday 18 October. The official opening of the new-look Clubhouse took place on Saturday, 27 October at 5pm, with our two longest-serving Members Michael York and Joyce Warn (with 135+ years of loyalty between them!) officially unveiling a plaque to mark this historic occasion.

 

What are the opening hours of the new-look Clubhouse?
The opening hours of the new-look Clubhouse are from 8am until close, usually around 10pm, seven days a week. During sailing events, however, particularly when participants are due back in the early hours, the Club will operate 24 hours. Please note during normal trading hours, entry to the Club premises, outside of the marina, is not available before 8am.

 

Is there a happy hour at the new-look Clubhouse?
Yes, happy hour will continue at the new-look Clubhouse – from 5-6pm Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays, in Coasters Retreat.

 

What are the parking options at the new-look Clubhouse?
On opening of the new-look Clubhouse there will be two usable car parks – the smaller car park, between the Clubhouse and the John Messenger Building, which reopens, and in the current car park between the administration building and d’Albora Marina. (Please note, as communicated to Members, car parks will be out of operation on Sunday 21 October due to the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, with cars left on CYCA premises overnight on Saturday 20 October towed offsite for security reasons. Is the new-look Clubhouse wheelchair friendly?
Yes, the new-look Clubhouse is wheelchair friendly, with a ramp providing access to the front door of the premises, and a new access ramp on to the lower deck. There are lifts to take guests to the second floor, too. There is disabled access from the hardstand into the carpark, with disabled car parking in both car parks.

 

What are the dining options at the new-look Clubhouse? Can I see a menu? Are there regular specials?
Blond Catering will continue to offer Members and guests breakfast, lunch and dinner. Blond has recently appointed a second Head Chef, Magnus Jonsson, to focus on events at the CYCA.

Members are now entitled to a 10% discount on the following special items, available from 5pm to 9pm:

  • Monday – $15 Fish & Chips
  • Tuesday – $15 Pasta of the Day with garlic bread
  • Wednesday – $15 Daily Special
  • Thursday – $20 Angus Rump & Chips

In addition to regular specials and traditional offerings, gourmet wraps and rolls are now also on the menu.

 

Where is the coffee shop at the new-look Clubhouse? Do I need to enter the Clubhouse to grab a coffee?
The Blond Catering-operated coffee shop/bistro at the new-look Clubhouse, named Café 44, is accessed by either the sunset gate, backing onto Rushcutters Bay Park, or through the Clubhouse. The café is open from 8am. Will&Co coffee, backed by more than 50 years’ coffee experience, is offered at Café 44.

 

How can I book a table at the new-look Clubhouse?
Simply call Blond Catering on (02) 8292 7892 or book at reception. Online booking functionality is coming soon – watch this space.

 

Can I book functions at the new-look Clubhouse?
Yes, you can! Bookings at the new-look Clubhouse can be made via Blond Catering. Please call (02) 8292 7892 or email events@blondcatering.com.au. Please note November and December bookings are filling fast – enquire today!

 

Is there a merchandise store in the new-look Clubhouse?
Yes, there is a merchandise store in the new-look Clubhouse, adjacent to the reception area. This will be stocked with merchandise from our official suppliers, Musto. You can also purchase merchandise at our online store.

 

Where can I see all the Club-related activities and functions at the new-look Clubhouse?

Is the new Clubhouse dog friendly?
Yes, the new Clubhouse is dog friendly! Four-legged friends are welcome on the lower deck and must remain on leash at all occasions. Dogs must enter the Clubhouse through the side gate, adjacent to the lower-deck gate near the boardwalk.

 

Where can I smoke at the new-look Clubhouse?
A dedicated smoking area will be provided on the corner of the Hardstand closest to the Clubhouse. Access will be from the public walkway around the lower deck, or from the small car park.

 

When does the temporary Clubhouse close?
The temporary Clubhouse closed to Members and guests on Wednesday 17 October 2018, following the Club Marine Wednesday Twilight sailing.

 

Will the temporary Clubhouse be dismantled?
The temporary Clubhouse will remain up to firstly become the Sailing Base for the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, and then the Sydney Race Village for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, during which it is used for the race media centre and Musto shop.

 

Where is the Members-only bar located in the new-look Clubhouse?
The expanded Coasters Retreat is located on the second floor, at the northern end of the building, in the same location.

 

How do I become a Member? What are the benefits?
Click here to complete our Nomination for Membership form or come into the Club. Members are entitled to entrance into the car park, access to the Club, discounts on food and beverage, discounted merchandise, discounted offers from our partners and more.

 

Can I come into the Club without becoming a Member?
If you live outside a 5km radius you are allowed into the Club as a guest. If you live inside the 5km radius, you do have to become a Member to use the Club’s facilities, or be a guest of a Member.

 

I am a Member. How many guests can I sign in?
As a Member you are entitled to sign in as many guests as you like.

 

Is the Club child friendly?
Families are welcome to dine on the upper or lower deck.
